About me: I’m Ella Guevara, and I’m currently a third-year health science major, pre-dental! I’m Filipina, and I moved to Jacksonville from the Philippines when I was five years old with my parents and sister. I’m still fluent in Tagalog because my parents wanted to preserve our culture as much as possible at home. They are a big factor in why I take so much pride in my culture. On a deeper note, something about me is that I’m VERY empathetic. I love getting to know people on a different level, and I feel that this allows me to connect better with them and build stronger relationships. I find people very interesting and life itself: the motives behind people’s actions and choices, the things they fear, the ways life has affected who they became/are becoming etc etc. I value honesty, loyalty, and kindness. I choose to surround myself with positive, real and genuine people. I love spending time with friends and family. I have full faith in God and the plans made for me. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor lolz. I love horror movies, romantic movies, and Disney movies. Speaking of Disney, I LOVE DISNEY! If ya ever wanna take trips to Orlando together, I’m your girl! I love to shop, sing, sometimes dance, go to the beach/pool, decorate/rearrange my living spaces, travel, NAP LOL, and do makeup! One of my favorite stores is Ulta hands down HAHA. Some of my favorite shows are Jane the Virgin, Gossip Girl, Dynasty, the Fosters, 90210, and more! I hate drama but it’s fun to watch haha! My favorite foods are sushi, Korean bbq, curly fries, and fried fish. My go-to boba drink at Teastori is Strawberry Mojito with boba ballzz! Overall, I consider myself pretty chill, but there’s definitely times when I’m soo extra(lol) and I just wanna go out with my friends and have fun! I do like to be productive so can’t play hard without working hard amiright ladies??

Why EMPRESS? EMPRESS because of the members. People make such a big difference and can influence your decisions easily based on how you vibe with them and feel with them. I got to know the ladies of EMPRESS at recruitment, and they were so positive and supportive and kind! It felt like a very genuine group of girls and those are the kinds of people I wanted to surround myself with. They were very EMPOWERING for sure. I wanted to surround myself with people who would not only support me but push me to be the best version of myself. I chose EMPRESS to also have the opportunity to lead others one day with what I would learn through the organization. I also love EMPRESS Philanthropy with mental health being one of the biggest dimensions of heath we college students have to maintain. It’s a very relevant and very important cause that I wanted to help bring light to.
